TCKF EASTER Follow-up News Release – 4/3/18
This past weekend, visitors from 33 states and 5 nations came to Kerrville, TX to experience EASTER at THE COMING KING SCULPTURE PRAYER GARDEN, located on 24.5 acres, in the beautiful Texas Hill Country, right off IH-10. Good Friday, Saturday and Easter Sunday drew 3,348 people to the 1,930’ mountain top, located at the same latitude as ISRAEL.
On the Saturday the sponsoring, non-profit art organization, THE COMING KING FOUNDATION, hosted a “RESURRECTION CELEBRATION” from 11:00 AM until 5:00 PM, with LIVE worship music, inspirational speakers and Texas food.
Different churches and ministries presented beautiful worship music and powerful personal testimonies. These accounts were given by people whose lives had been radically changed by Jesus Christ. Many of the accounts occurred at the spiritual art garden in Kerrville.
To date, at least 27 people have canceled their plans for suicide, after coming to the Christ-honoring garden. The latest person saved from suicide was a young mother two weeks ago. Some medical doctors across the state of Texas are now recommending that their patients go to the peaceful Christian art garden for healing.
Evangelist, TV and radio personality, TCKF Trustee, Louada Raschke organized the Saturday event. Kerrville’s Pastor Noah Diggs with Mt. Olive Baptist Church, “EVE” contemporary band from San Antonio, IMPACT CHRISTIAN FELLOWSHIP KIDS, SOZO HOME from Kerrville, and SKY DIVIDED BAND from San Antonio all provided powerful praise and worship music. In addition, Raschke’s own group, A CROSS GENERATION BAND performed on Saturday.
Inspiring messages, testimonies and ministry were delivered to the crowd by Mayor Bonnie White; artist evangelist, Max Greiner, Jr.; Louada Raschke; IMPACT Youth Pastor, Brent Davis; and the recovered men from SOZO HOUSE. Great food was supplied by BILL’S BAR-B-Q and KELANI YOGURT. The new monumental bronze sculpture, the “Lion Of Judah” by artist and TCKF President, Max Greiner, Jr. was also presented to EASTER guests for the first time.
On EASTER Sunday, a special SON RISE EASTER SERVICE was held at 7:30 AM. This year 580 people were on God’s mountain at sunrise for the non-denominational Christian service. Last year 569 people attended the SON RISE EASTER SERVICE. The 2018 total visitor count for Sunday was 1,305 people.
The EASTER service began with the blowing of the Shofar horns by Jeff and Liz Rodrigues, TCKF Tour Guide Chaplains. TCKF Treasurer, Weldon Baker, welcomed guests to the garden while Mayor Bonnie White welcomed everyone to Kerrville. Pastor Robert White gave the Invocation, followed by the Kerrville CHURCH OF CHRIST choir. Artist, architect evangelist, Max Greiner, Jr. shared testimony about the garden, followed by TCKF Trustee, Dr. Javier Campos who gave the Offertory prayer. Louada Raschke and her group, A CROSS GENERATION BAND provided more worship music.
The inspiring main EASTER message was given by TCKF Vice-President and former Rector of St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, Dr. Stockton Williams. TCKF founder, Max Greiner, Jr. gave the closing Invitation to follow Jesus Christ. Many people gave their lives to Jesus, were Baptized and empowered by the Holy Spirit. Some attendees also experienced verifiable miracles, including the supernatural Shekinah Glory dust (Ex 34:29), which formed out of thin air on the skin and clothing of many garden visitors.
The 2018 EASTER events were planned and executed by the Board of Trustees of and the part-time TCKF staff including Debbye Meszaros and Rosalyn Bell. The EASTER logistics were expertly handled by Jeff and Barbara Anderson of SERV Kerrville, who recruited and organized 109 volunteers. Because of their love for Jesus Christ and people, they donated 922 hours of work to put on these free events for guests.
The garden was made beautiful by many gardening and landscape experts including, Billy Long Enterprises/Gardens at the Ridge, AAA Landscape, Newsome Sprinklers and TCKF Trustee and native plant expert, Kathy Lyles of Fredericksburg. Many other people contributed to the beauty of the garden including Buddy Bell and Randy Reed. Most of the fifty TCKF Tour Guide Chaplains also served guests over EASTER weekend.
Originally, the private free, outdoor sculpture garden was vehemently opposed by atheists, neighbors and others, between 2005 and 2010 after TCKF founders, Max and Sherry Greiner, expressed their desire publically to build a beautiful, free sculpture prayer garden on IH-10 to honor Jesus Christ. The design featured a unique, 77’7” tall contemporary sculpture called “The Empty Cross”, and many other monumental Christian sculptures by various donor artists.
Today, almost a dozen Christ-honoring monumental sculptures, by three internationally collected, professional artists, are presented to visitors in a giant 300’ long cross-shaped garden, with 77 Bible scriptures in three languages. For many years, the spiritual art garden has been Kerrville’s top year-round tourist attraction. As a result, it has become a financial boon to the local economy.
No public tax money was used to build this internationally recognized tourist attraction, which has been featured on ABC, CBS, NBC, FOX and Time Warner news programs. The controversial Christian art garden has also been covered by the Associated Press and virtually all of the international Christian media. Recently, the Kerrville art garden was featured on the MIKE HUCKABEE SHOW and will be featured in an upcoming issue of CHARISMA MAGAZINE, possibly the most widely circulated Christian print magazine in the world.
The entire, non-commercial garden was funded without debt, from the donations of Christians across the USA and world. The land, art, landscaping, lighting, water well system and structures were all donated by Christ followers. All of the art, worth millions of dollars, has been donated by three Christian sculptors, Beverly Paddleford of Lander, WY, David Broussard of Canton, TX and Max Greiner, Jr. of Kerrville. The garden is open 7 AM until midnight, 365 days a year. It draws a constant stream of tourists from all 50 states and at least 68 countries to the small Texas town of about 24,000 residents.
In 2017, the estimated tourism for the art garden was 136,714 visitors. 2018 is expected to easily exceed this number. THE COMING KING SCULPTURE PRAYER GARDEN is probably the only art museum in the world that has its own weekly radio show, which is broadcast each weekend from KSLR in San Antonio and KTXW in Austin. The 30 minute program, “THE CROSS AT KERRVILLE”, features the dramatic testimonies of garden guests. It is broadcast over almost 1/3 of Texas and can be heard around the world online from the TCKF website: http://www.thecomingkingfoundation.org/radio-show-archive.html and from the KSLR website "Podcast" page: https://omny.fm/shows/the-cross-at-kerrville.
